AMERICAN IDOL - Music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, along with Emmy¨-winning producer and host Ryan Seacrest, and multimedia personality and in-house mentor Bobby Bones, were on hand when ABC's "American Idol" kicked off auditions for the upcoming season in search for the next singing sensation in Savannah, Georgia, Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. With many shows going on hiatus ahead of the holiday season, many viewers are already wondering when their favorite shows will return. Well fear not because ABC has announced its spring 2020 lineup.

With the network’s big reveal, it’s been shared that American Idol will return for its third season on February 16 from 8-10 p.m. EST.

Returning judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie got in on the big news during a recorded Facetime call with host Ryan Seacrest and mentor Bobby Bones. In the short clip, Seacrest and Bones go back and forth on who will actually reveal the premiere date, with longtime host Seacrest eventually winning out.

News of Bryan, Perry and Richie’s return was announced in August, with Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment sharing, “‘American Idol’ is the original music competition series. It was the first of its kind to take everyday singers and catapult them into superstardom, launching the careers of so many amazing artists. We couldn’t be more excited for Katy, Luke, Lionel and Bobby to continue in their roles as ‘American Idol’ searches for the next great music star, with more live episodes and exciting, new creative elements coming this season.”

Filming for the new season has already been underway, with contestants auditioning for the show all across the country.

Stay tuned for more from Idol when it returns to ABC on February 16, 2020.
