‘American Idol’ Wraps With Former Idols and Epic Collaborations
To bid the iconic show farewell, many of the former Idols returned to where their journeys began for some incredible performance.
Tonight marks the end of an era. It is the series finale of American Idol.
For one last time, host Ryan Seacrest has said “The winner of American Idol Season ## is….” (cue the long, tortuous pause).
As fans across the country are set to say goodbye, numerous former Idols have made their way to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to bid a fond farewell to the show. Among them is Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, Bucky Covington, Casey James, Danny Gokey, Kellie Pickler, Kree Harrison, and Lauren Alaina.
During the epic two-hour finale, the former Idols made their way to the stage for one-of-a-kind collaborations with their peers.
Pickler, Alaina, McCreery, Skylar Laine, Harrison, Diana DeGarmo, Covington, Constantine Maroulis and Ace Young teamed up for a massive country music collaboration. Kicking the performed off with Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” was Laine, DeGarmo and Harrison, who were later joined by Young, Maroulis and Covington on Hunter Hayes’ “Storm Warning.”
The group then grew to include Pickler and Alaina for The Band Perry’s “DONE.,” followed by McCreery on Garth Brooks’ “Papa Loves Mama.” The group concluded their performance with Little Big Town’s “Pavement Ends.”
Later in the broadcast, Casey James teamed up with Katharine McPhee for a duet on Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now.”
SPOILER ALERT: The show concluded when Seacrest named Trent Harmon the winner of Season 15.
