Singer Amy Grant is recovering in a Nashville, TN hospital after undergoing open heart surgery on Wednesday morning (6/3). According to a post on her Facebook page, the singer went to correct a pre-existing condition.

“From Team Amy – with all that is going on in our world that needs our collective prayer, please also join us in praying for Amy this week as she has heart surgery to correct her PAPVR condition,” a post read.

Nearly five hours later, her team once again shared an update that she was out of surgery.

“Thank you for so many prayers today. Amy is out of surgery and the doctor said it could not have gone better. We would ask for continued prayers over the days, weeks and months to come as she makes a full recovery… xo”

According to the Mayo Clinic, Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR) is a defect that is present at birth where the pulmonary veins that carry blood from the lungs to the heart flow into other blood vessels or the heart’s right chamber instead of correctly flowing into the left chamber.

No word yet on how long Grant will have to remain in the hospital as the COVID-19 pandemic is still a major concern in hospitals worldwide.
