Sony Music Nashville is set to ship Angie Johnson’s debut single, “Swagger,” from her Sing For You EP next week. The fun, up-tempo single will hit almost two years to the day after Johnson gained international fame when a video of her performing in the Middle East with the Air National Guard band Sidewinder was posted to YouTube and went viral. The original video can be viewed here.

Johnson, who is also a Tech Sergeant in the Air National Guard, wrote “Swagger” while on her way from Nashville to St. Louis for her two-week summer Guard training last year. “I was driving to St. Louis late one night and I thought, ‘Going out dancing with my girlfriends sure would beat this long drive by myself,'” she said. “Writing ‘Swagger’ was my way of cutting loose in a song.” She finished the song with her producer Josh Leo and frequent co-writer Phoenix Mendoza.

Angie opened for country music’s quintessential female vocalist, Martina McBride, on Friday July 26th at the Ohio State Fair and had a chance to spend some time with the superstar following the concert. “Meeting one of my biggest vocal and career influences was everything hoped it would be. Martina is a genuine class act!” says Johnson. Angie will be back in Ohio opening for Joe Nichols at the Mercer County Fair in Celina on August 9, 2013.
