Ashley Monroe wed Chicago White Sox pitcher John Danks Thursday (10/24) evening. The couple, who met through a friend after a show in Chicago in 2001, said “I Do” at Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN, the same place Kelly Clarkson tied the knot just four days prior.
“I married my best friend,” the”Weed Instead of Roses” singer tells People. “He has such a good heart.”
In true Pistol Annies form, Monroe had “Pistol Andy,” Blake Shelton, officiate the ceremony, and “Lonestar Annie,” Miranda Lambert, stand beside her as maid of honor.
“They’re my dearest friends,” Monroe says of the couple. “And we wanted someone with personality to marry us!”
In addition to her role as Maid of Honor, Lambert also took on the role of wedding planner.
“Miranda was the one who cared about all the details!” said Monroe, who dubbed Lambert “Plannie Annie” while she was planning their big day. “It was magical.”
