Forget Rickrolling, the newest musical meme sweeping the interwebs is Blake-rolling… and it’s totally rad.

In a new promo video for the upcoming season of NBC’s The Voice, Blake Shelton and his co-coaches take a time warp back to the glory days of the music video. They cover Rick Astley’s “Together Forever” in pure ’80s style — seriously, the fashions look like someone uncovered a lost JCPenney that sealed its doors in 1985 — making for an unforgettable, and hilarious, montage.

Featuring the country superstar and his pals Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas, the fun-filled clip feels like a remake of Astley’s “state-of-the-art” original, complete with bulky suits, awkward dancing, synthesizers and neon backdrops.

It’s all meant to promote the upcoming 20th season of The Voice, and begins with Shelton thinking back to the last time Jonas was a judge — which was only two seasons ago. But somehow his macaroni-filled brain makes the leap to proclaiming his “Together Forever” devotion, and gets lost in what can only be described as a fever dream. Jonas eventually shows up and snaps Shelton out of his trance, but by then we’ve already gotten a frightening look at what goes on inside his head. Can you believe this guy is the most-winning coach in Voice history?

Check out the ridiculousness in the post above, and be sure to tune in when Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas return for The Voice’s 20th season on NBC March 1.
