Country fans will have reason to celebrate when the new season of The Voice kicks off, as one of their favorite celebrity couples is back in action. That’s right, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are once again going head to head on national TV.

Also featuring coaches Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, season 17 of the Emmy-nominated show looks like it will be a barrel full of laughs as well as a top-notch talent competition. Shelton and pop-superstar Stefani famously met and began dating in the spinning chairs a few years back, and have since become one of the most publicized pairs in entertainment.

Their odd-couple bond will surely be on full display throughout the show, which according to a preview trailer will be filled with playful banter and faux relationship drama — plus the actual work of finding and supporting a new generation of musical stars.

“I always love having Gwen on the show,” Shelton says. “I mean, this is the fourth season, and she literally makes my day 100 percent better.”

Shelton better watch his back, though, because it doesn’t seem like Stefani is going to pull any punches.

“I’m back and this is my season to win,” she says with a smile.

The Voice returns for its 17th season Monday and Tuesday nights beginning September 23 8/7c on NBC.
