Blake Shelton went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to check in about his latest season of The Voice and plug his new album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country. But once he got there, it seemed like the comedic pair had funnier ideas.

Right off the bat, Shelton felt the urge to dispute his fellow Voice coach John Legend’s new title as People’s Sexiest Man Alive — an honor Shelton held in 2017 — saying that he’s actually still the sexiest coach on The Voice, and that “everyone has the right to be wrong.”

The country star also revealed that it’s not as easy to work with his friend Trace Adkins as it might seem, admitting that his bass-singing tour partner is “a grumpy guy,” but for her part, DeGeneres just wanted to embarrass her guest about his famous girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. Asking Shelton once again when he’s going to propose, she reminded him of a clock she had made for his last visit, to illustrate the fact that “time is ticking.”

“She’s actually the sexiest coach on The Voice, now that I think of it,” Shelton corrected.

Shelton also gave a sneak peak at the already-filmed blind auditions to Season 18 of The Voice. Those will feature Nick Jonas in the spinning chair instead of Stefani, and Shelton says the show’s female contestants are making some “terrible decisions” by going with Jonas’ team. To cap things off, Shelton then got introduced to the “Blake Doll,” which naturally comes with its own bottle of vodka and red solo cup.

“For your kids to play alcoholic early on,” DeGeneres joked. “I want to be just like daddy!”
