Blake Shelton knows he’s supposed to drop it like it’s hot. You can tell he’s seen it done. But every time he tries, it just comes out … lukewarm.
The country superstar proved as much in a hilarious video recently, sharing a cringe-worthy candid clip of his “dancing” on social media. Filmed backstage on the set of NBC’s The Voice, it features Shelton trying to get down to Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” and it’s worth a watch.
“Let’s bring these moves back again…” Shelton wrote to caption the clip. He’s wearing a brightly colored Snoop Dogg jacket in the video, shuffling his boots and bobbing his head in front of a makeup mirror as the song plays in the background. Showing off that famous sense of humor, Shelton definitely knows how to have a good time, even if he can’t make the heat materialize. But it’s too bad, really, since his new album is titled Body Language.
Maybe Snoop can help with that. The rap icon was featured on this week’s episode of The Voice as a mega mentor, on hand to school the contestants on the finer points of authenticity and stage presence. And reportedly, he offered solid advice all around. Hopefully he can make some time for his new “buddy,” Blake Shelton.
With the current season of The Voice ongoing, Shelton’s latest single is “Minimum Wage” and he just shared the track “Bible Verses.” Both songs are featured on his his upcoming album, Body Language, which is set for May 21.
