Blake Shelton Delivers Stormy ‘God’s Country’ at 2019 ACM Awards

Blake Shelton brought his harrowing new song “God’s Country” to the 2019 ACM Awards.

Shelton’s voice was strong as he delivered the new track, bringing a foreboding ode to the awards show stage as he sang over a stormy melody, “I saw the light in a sunrise sittin’ back in a 40 on the muddy river side, gettin’ baptized in holy water and shine with the dogs runnin,’ saved by the sound of the being found, the devil went down to Georgia, but he didn’t stick around, this is God’s country.”

Shelton had the crowd immersed in the performance and lyrics, as artists ranging from Brandi Carlile to Thomas Rhett could be seen nodding their heads to the intriguing melody, making for one of the best performances of the night.

“God’s Country,” co-written by Devin Dawson, new artist Hardy and songwriter Jordan Schmidt, is the latest single from Shelton following his Top 10 hit in 2018 “Turnin’ Me On.”
