Blake Shelton has discovered a new world of information in his relationship with Gwen Stefani, but the singer has taken parenthood by the horns and become quite accustomed to the idea of starting a family.

Stefani has three kids herself from a previous marriage, which honestly made Shelton nervous over the kind of role he would take on in their lives. Although he adjusted himself from just a boyfriend to an active mentor for the boys to look up to, the country star came to find how he wishes he would have created a lifestyle like their family aspect.

While he doesn’t have any biological children, Shelton felt those dad vibes from the get-go and instantly grasped to his fatherly intuition when it came to hanging with Stefani’s boys.

“At this point in my life, I kind of had put [having kids] as like, ‘Well, that wasn’t meant to be.’ Then all of a sudden it happens one way or another and it’s like, ‘Wow, [I] missed out on a lot.’ And so having them around…I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s so much fun,” Shelton explained during his TODAY Show television appearance.

“For a long time, it was awkward trying to figure out what my place is and in their mind too,” said Shelton. “The best part for me, selfishly, is discovering a part of myself that I guess I never really knew was in there. It’s definitely an instinct that kind of kicks in.”

A part of his responsibility trait may have come into play after coaching so many music hopefuls as a coach on many seasons of The Voice.

Reflecting upon everything he has learned throughout his life, including the developments in his relationship, Shelton gets real on his current single, “I Lived It.” The track can be heard on country radio now.
