Blake Shelton Talks Divorce To Miranda Lambert: ‘We’re Buddies’

Blake Shelton

The surprise of the summer came when Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce after four years of marriage. The separation came quickly and quietly, leaving many heads spinning at how fast everything moved.

“In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had a pre-nuptial agreement, whatever we had,” Shelton told Bobby Bones on The Bobby Bones Show this morning (9/23). “Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or ten day waiting period until it’s over.”

“We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that, because by the time anybody knew anything it was over. It was done,” he added. “Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is. We’re buddies.”

The couple released a statement when they first announced the split back in July, stating: “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

Since the divorce, however, Shelton has been busy, working on both new music and the new season of The Voice. He’s also been noticeably slimmer, causing fans to question if he’s doing okay. But a rep for Shelton tells E! Online that it’s very simple… “He’s doing the two things he hates to do—diet and exercise.”

The Oklahoma native has been very open about his exercise. He tweeted about working out, saying he had just gotten off the treadmill. He also talked to reporters at the iHeartRadio Music Festival about staying active. “I realized this summer that my lawn needed mowing,” Blake said backstage. “And I looked in the garage and I have a push mower. You know, I’m not trying to be cocky or nothin’ but I’m out there push mowin’ my stupid lawn like, ‘What am I doin’?'”

It seems like Shelton is working hard at staying busy. Fans can watch him on the brand new season of The Voice on NBC Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c.
