Blake Shelton finds out that the truth hurts (in more ways than one) in a lighthearted video posted by NBC’s The Voice. The country star gets himself into some hot water after a stiff bump on the head, and hilarity ensues.

Recalling the classic Jim Carrey comedy, Liar, Liar, Shelton gets conked on the head while walking around the set of The Voice one day, and when he comes to, he suddenly can’t tell a lie. Try as he might to stick to his usual routine, Shelton simply can’t help dropping truth bombs everywhere he goes.

First the “God’s Country” hit maker admits he only puts about 25-percent effort into his job. Then he proceeds to tell a few contestants that he’s not actually paying attention during their auditions, and even says on camera that he’s been lip syncing through his entire career. By the time he tells fellow coach Kelly Clarkson how much she means to him (and attempts to give her a hug), his famous friends have had enough … and there’s only one thing to do.

Check it out in the clip above, and stick around to enjoy Shelton’s new “Nobody But You” duet with his Voice-coaching girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, below.
