Country superstar Blake Shelton married pop diva Gwen Stefani earlier this summer, instantly making them a musical power couple. But despite the massive spotlight that shines on them, part of the reason fans love this couple is their down-to-earth nature.

On a recent episode of The Storme Warren Show on SiriusXM’s The Highway, Shelton helped reinforce that everyday-people reputation. Apparently, his wedding gift to Stefani wasn’t a yacht or a Lamborghini, it was a simple song written from the heart. And fans might soon get to hear it.

Opening up in a wide-ranging interview, Shelton explained that he wanted to make his new wife’s wedding day as special as possible. Even though he doesn’t write many songs anymore, the hopeless romantic actually sat down to scratch out a tune worthy of he and Stefani’s odd-couple story. And with help from songwriting icon Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying”), Shelton creating something that’s both personal to him and Stefani, and broad enough to resonate with fans. He wanted the song to stand the test of time, Shelton said — just like his love will — and after recording the track in Nashville, said he’ll hopefully release it one day.

“I think it’s something I want to share because I’m really proud of it,” Shelton said. “And I’m, I, you know, to me, a marriage, a ceremony is you’re not keeping it private when you get married to somebody. You’re announcing to the world, ‘Hey, this is my wife, just so everybody knows.’ That’s why we wear these rings. You know, this is where we’re together now. And, and I feel that way about the song. It’s like, it is a, uh, you know, for me something that I want people to hear and know, and because I’m, I’m proud to be married to Gwen and so proud of that song.”

Blake Shelton went on to talk about the couple’s honeymoon plans — and how terrifying it was to get back onstage after going so long without performing. Plus, he gave his host the scoop on what to expect the new season of NBC’s The Voice, which features first time coach Ariana Grande. Apparently, he can already tell she’s a “fierce competitor.”

Check it all out on SiriusXM’s The Storme Warren Show, which airs weekday mornings at 7 am ET on SiriusXM’s The Highway channel.
