Blanco Brown got everyone to “Git Up” for his first-ever CMT Music Awards performance at the 2021 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday (6/9).

Kane Brown introduced the up-and-comer with a warm welcome before Brown exploded into a funky country flair. Clad in plaid and looking quite on trend, Brown shined during his brief breakthrough moment on the broadcast. He even busted out some spoons to break it down with the band.

The song is a new one from Brown and will be released on Friday, June 18. Written by Brown, Tyler Hubbard (of Florida Georgia Line), Jordan Schmidt and Quintin Amey, the track reaffirms Brown’s Southern roots and his love for all things country.

“I’ve been all around the world and have seen people of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds uniting over their love of Country music—the music ties us together,” said the CMT Group Video of the Year nominee in a press release. “It’s the sound of home. It’s the sound of my Georgia heart. It’s hard to imagine anybody loving it more than me.”

His spotlight on the RAM Trucks Stage marks Brown’s first time performing live on television since his near fatal motorcycle accident last year. He made a TV appearance as a presenter on the 2021 ACM Awards in April. He recently scored a Number One single on his collaboration with Parmalee on “Just The Way.” He’ll soon join Old Dominion for select dates on their We Are Old Dominion: Live at the Ballpark Tour.

Other performances from country music’s only fan-voted awards show include Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina and more.

The 2021 CMT Awards, hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini, will air live on Wednesday, June 9 at 8 p.m. ET on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network and TV Land. Voting is open for Video of the Year from now through Wednesday, June 9. Check out a full list of the nominees here.
