Blanco Brown is on the mend after a serious accident near his home in Atlanta. He’s expected to make a full recovery after having several surgeries and recently earned some more good news… he’s a CMT Music Award nominee!

The singer earned his first two nominations ever: one for Breakthrough Video of the Year and another for Video of the Year. “The Git Up” singer received news of his nominations during a phone call with Broken Bow Records’ Executive Vice President Jon Loba. A video of that call was recorded and shared to Brown’s Instagram.

“Man, let me tell you. I can’t even imagine that,” Blanco said as he received the news. “CMT, I love you. Let ‘em know I love ‘em, I love ‘em. Thank you so much. It’s a blessing, especially, like…” he added before emotionally trailing off. “The family over there, it’s just like deeper than like just the song. It’s a blessing.”

Brown went on to share that he’d celebrate the good word with a “shot of water.”

The singer and producer was involved in a head-on collision on August 31. His label Broken Bow Records addressed the news in a press statement, sharing that he underwent a 12 hour surgery and was recovering in ICU. Just several days later, the label issued another statement that Brown had undergone another surgery, but had since been moved out of the ICU.

“His team of doctors do not anticipate Brown requiring any additional surgeries and expect him to make a full recovery,” the statement read in part. “Blanco, his family and his friends wish to express that they have been humbled and deeply touched by the outpouring of love from all over the world. They would like to thank everyone for their support and ask for continued prayers for Blanco during this time.”

Brown first went viral in 2019 with the release of “The Git Up,” a high-energy, catchy track complete with a new line dance. The craze was shared among celebrities and fans alike, most of whom posting videos for “The Git Up Challenge.” He released his debut album, Honeysuckle and Lightning Bugs, in October of the same year. He’s currently featured on Parmalee’s new single “Just the Way.”
