Newly-engaged Bobby Bones has another big announcement. Including making plans for a wedding, the radio host will return to American Idol as the season four in-house mentor.

“Super excited to announce that I’m coming back to American Idol! Yes! Love the show, love everyone there,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. He continued by thanking the Idol team for having him back, as well as the fans’ support that encouraged his return.

Producers for ABC’s American Idol revealed earlier that judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry would all return, along with host Ryan Seacrest. The show held whether Bones would return as they were working hard to fit the season in between filming for his new Nat Geo Show, Breaking Bobby Bones, he previously revealed during a Q&A on social media.

Filming recently began for the new season, with socially distanced measures in place, due to Covid-19. No word yet on what other changes may be made to the season, aside from maintaining a safe distance apart and upped cleaning measures.

The news of his return to Idol came just one day after the National Radio Hall of Fame inductee proposed to his girlfriend, Caitlin Parker. The couple are hoping to plan a May wedding, he revealed during his radio morning show and in another Instagram clip.

Idol will return to televisions in the spring of 2021.
