Girl power is about to take over country music this Friday as Bobby Bones established his own ode to all the ladies out there with his ‘Download a Female Friday’ initiative.

Following a radio incident between Lindsay Ell and a station out West, Bones stood in support of all female country artists by creating the platform of ‘Download a Female Friday.’ Basically put, the radio host hopes for fans and listeners of his show to go out and digitally purchase a record from any woman in country music.

The conversation about women in country music has been stretched along for decades, starting all the way back when Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn began to pave the way for females to stand and sing alongside their male counterparts in country. After infamous moments such as TomatoGate blew the doors wide open for ladies to spread their word about the industry, powerhouse voices stepped forward to represent all the girls around the world fighting for equality.

Here are just a few suggestions of artists to browse through on ‘Download a Female Friday,’ featuring their most recent releases within the last year or so. Because who runs the world? Girls.
