On the latest episode of his podcast, the BobbyCast, Bobby Bones chatted with Luke Bryan and Jon Pardi to see what each of them have been up to during coronavirus isolation. He started by talking with Luke, who has been spending isolation with his family and friends.

“It’s amazing,” he says. “You don’t realize how busy you are, how much running around in a day you do. I think it’s going to be pretty interesting for people to really take a step back and understand what’s important and what’s not.”

Luke’s wife, Caroline, has been busy homeschooling their kids during this time, and Luke is just trying to give her space as she navigates schooling at home.

“She’s ready to kill me,” Luke says with a laugh. “It’s best for me to quarantine all by myself away from her. She may just knock me off and throw me in the river.”

Luke went on to say that they are isolating with a group of friends, including their nephew’s school friends. The group was supposed to go on a skiing trip prior to the outbreak, but when that got cancelled, they decided to quarantine together.

In addition to chatting about isolation, Luke talked with Bobby about the recent passing of both Joe Diffie and Kenny Rogers. Luke called Joe one of the “best singers ever” and said that Rogers was an incredibly talented recording artist. Luke told personal stories about both of them, including when he used to golf with Diffie before his own career took off.

Luke also told Bobby that he’s been working on new music during this time and has been trying to write three to five songs per month. He doesn’t have details for a new album yet, but says he’s gearing up for when it’s time to get back in the studio.

“When the label tells me the awareness or excitement over this current project has passed and people feel like they’re ready to hear a whole ‘nother approach, that’s when we’ll go onto a new album,” he says. “With me, it will always be about recording the songs that speak to [me] at the time.”

After talking with Luke, Bobby called up Jon Pardi to see how he’s been doing in isolation. Jon told Bobby he’s mostly been working outside at this new property. The two also talked about the ACM Awards, which have been rescheduled for September. Jon is nominated for Album of the Year for his album, Heartache Medication.

“We worked so hard on the record, and to get a nomination, that’s a big award on the show,” Jon says of the nomination. “As a producer, as a songwriter and just as making an album that you want everyone to listen to, it just really puts a stamp on it.”

Jon has also been spending quarantine working out the details of his wedding to his fiancée, Summer. The two were originally supposed to wed in May, but have now rescheduled and changed venues. He says they are having to start over the entire wedding planning process and are “shooting for November.”

“We just got a date and so it’s all kind of brand new again. We’ve got to do it all over again,” he says.
