The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has confirmed that the body of Jerry Greer, the 19-year-old son of Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer, has been recovered from Kentucky Lake.

Greer went missing Sunday after a boating accident near Mason’s Boat Dock and Marina in Humphreys County, Tennessee. He was reportedly tubing with another 19-year-old at the time. Both tubers were said to be wearing  life jackets.

“We had about four eyewitnesses, and as best we can tell, it was a tubing accident,” Humphreys County Fire Chief Tim Duncan told WSMV. “Two gentleman came together, is my understanding, and one surfaced, the other did not.”

Greer’s family was involved in the search, which began on Sunday around 4pm.

“My respect is with this family as much as if it were anybody else,” Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, who described it as an emotional community effort, said. “This is somebody’s son, this is somebody’s child, and I’m going to treat them just like it was mine.”

According to information released by Morgan’s publicist, Jerry was a 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School. He had plans to play football for Marshall University in the fall. Jerry is survived by parents Craig and Karen Greer, sister Aly Beaird and brother-in-law Ryan Beaird, brother Kyle Greer and fiancé Chelsea Rogers and brother Wyatt Greer. Funeral arrangements are pending.

We’d like to send our condolences to Morgan and his family during this difficult time.
