Brad Paisley Gifted with Pet Goat from Dustin Lynch at Nashville Tour Stop

Brad Paisley brought his 2018 Weekend Warrior Tour home to Nashville on Friday (April 6), for a night he will surely never forget. Halfway through his set, opener Dustin Lynch returned to the stage for a memorable performance of “I’m Still a Guy” and a very special tour gift for Paisley.

“In my opinion, Brad Paisley is one of the greatest of all time,” Lynch tells the audience. “He is one of the G.O.A.T.s of country music. So, Brad, I got you a goat! We named her Tele, short for Telecaster.”

Paisley was visibly confused as he pet his new family member, who was draped in a Wonder Woman cape. Promising to take Tele home because his kids would be very disappointed if he didn’t, Paisley thanked Lynch for his unique tour gift adding, “I’ll be on YouTube later reading how to take care of a goat.”

He then grabbed a fan’s phone from the audience to take a “goat-fie” and cleverly changed the lyrics to his 2008 hit. “These days there’s dudes taking goat selfies,” he sang.

All goats aside, Paisley put on an electrifying concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena as he powered through his lengthy catalog of hits. The show’s standout production provided a mesmerizing light show as well as an interactive jumbotron that often featured Paisley’s music videos.

“It is so great to be home. So many memories in this arena and I have so many faces I’m looking at up here and thinking, ‘Oh, no. They’re here?'” he jokes. “It’s always a very daunting thing to play here for the people that pretty much make or break me. I’m going to do my best to give you your money’s worth tonight.”

Fan favorites like “Online,” “Ticks” and “Mud on the Tires” had the arena singing along while Paisley impressed with plenty of guitar shredding. He effortlessly mixed up his set, including the fast paced and often comical songs with the sentimental ballads like the poignant “Perfect Storm,” “Today” and “Then.” As he launched into the reflective “Letter to Me,” he shared some advice he gave Belmont students early in the day.

“I grew up in a time before social media. The worst that people could say about you was behind your back. It wasn’t printed online, wasn’t on the phone. They weren’t texting each other. Back then they were chiseling stuff to each other,” he deadpans. “I can’t imagine growing up now. My advice would be, high school is not the best years of your life. Don’t worry.”

Lindsay Ell returned to the stage to assist on the powerful ballad, “Whiskey Lullaby” where her soulful vocals and guitar playing rivaled Paisley’s. Noticeably impressed, as they closed the song Paisley raved about his opener: “That’s the future right there, y’all.”

Ell, Lynch and Chase Bryant returned to the stage for the encore. Wearing Nashville Predators jerseys, they ended the show on a high note as they belted “Alcohol” and thousands of country fans sang along.
“God bless you, Nashville. I love you so much!” Paisley says as he closed the show. “We’ll see you at the Stanley Cup!”
