Saturday night’s Grand Ole Opry show was an emotional one for the night’s closing act Brad Paisley as the singer revealed the first-ever wax figure of the legendary Little Jimmy Dickens. Paisley teamed up with world-renowned wax attraction Madame Tussauds to debut the figure of his late friend to the Opry at the Ryman audience, before performing Dickens’ hit “Out Behind The Barn.”

“I’m floored at the likeness,” said the singer. “Jimmy gave the Opry the personality it deserved. He was the kindest to new artists of anybody. He was never judgmental and he was always extremely supportive. He was a man who loved everyone and I’m honored to sing one of his songs.”

The evening was incredibly special for Paisley, a longtime friend of Dickens, as the night was surrounded by several important anniversaries in his life. While the show took place on Dec. 17, Paisley recollected that his invitation to join the Opry family as a member was extended 16 years prior (Dec. 16, 2000) by Dickens in a Santa costume. Monday (Dec. 19) also marks what would have been Dickens’ 96th birthday.

The wax figure of Dickens portrays the small 4-foot-11-inch singer as he appeared in the 1960s, as chosen by his widow Mona. The figure is adorned in a rhinestone-studded suit (designed by one of his original tailors), a “JD” ring,” cowboy boots and a cowboy hat.

The figure of Dickens will join those of the previously revealed Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash and Minnie Pearl figures in the new Nashville Madame Tussauds exhibit, opening spring 2017. The Music City attraction will be the first of its kind that features only music icons from Country, Rock n Roll, Jazz, Blues and Pop.

Early bird tickets are already available for purchase and will allow guests to save $5 from the regular price admission. Tickets can be used anytime from the grand opening through the end of 2017. For more information, visit madametussauds.com/nashville.
