Brad Paisley may have missed his calling as a comedian as he’s got a knack for writing hilarious jokes. During an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer sat down with the host to chat about his summer tour, return to the CMA Awards as a host and share a new unreleased song.

Paisley shared little about the tune before he began plucking away on his guitar, singing the first line “First date / First kiss / First taste of lovin’ / You were my first …” before pausing, then singing “cousin.”

As the audience and Fallon laughed, he continued on with a straight face, “We got in big trouble / With your dad, my uncle / because you were my first/ and I’ll always be your first / and our children will be second cousins …”

During his time on the couch, Paisley couldn’t help but make a joke about fellow country star Blake Shelton. After explaining that he and his band play intense games of dodgeball while on tour, Fallon asked if Shelton had ever stopped by for a game.

Paisley shared that Shelton had recently undergone Tommy John surgery, “Which is that thing that pitchers get. I don’t know what it was,” as he mimed lifting a glass to poke fun at Shelton’s drinking.

The West Virginia native will continue his summer run of dates through the start of September before preparing for his 11th hosting stint on the CMA Awards. Paisley will be teaming up once again with his longtime co-host Carrie Underwood for the show, taking place live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 8/7c on ABC.
