On the road, Brad Paisley’s a huge superstar, but at home, he’s just ‘dad.’

With two little boys growing quickly (Huck, 6½, and Jasper Warren, 4½), it’s hard for Paisley to let his boys be boys. “It’s hard not to tell your kids, ‘Don’t do that. I’ve made that mistake,’” Paisley recently told PEOPLE. “You can tell them that all you want, but you’ve got to let them do it.”

“They’re growing up,” Paisley added. “I see so much of me [in them].”

One thing Paisley loves doing with his boys is throwing the good ole pigskin around. “My favorite thing right now is actually to go out and throw a football around with them. They have to get past me at the goal line and they have to organize an offense against me. I let them win.”

Be sure to catch Paisley on “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles,” which airs Feb. 9 on CBS. The superstar is set to perform “Here Comes The Sun” with Pharrell Williams.
