Country artist Brad Paisley made a surprise appearance on the virtual Vanderbilt 2020 State of Nursing address last week (5/19).

During the zoom video containing over 600 nurses, Paisley expressed his gratitude to all of the frontline workers. The event was part of the ongoing Vanderbilt’s National Nurses week and the celebration of the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, the Founder of modern nursing.

“I’ve always had this feeling of reassurance that Vanderbilt is in our town. I don’t think many cities our size have something this fine-tuned and, I guess, exquisite,” Paisley gratefully expressed to the nurses on the call, before taking song requests and launching into his new single, “No I in Beer.”

Paisley was also part of the “Gratitunes” campaign which began on March 30 for National Doctors’ Day. Throughout April over 80 artists including Paisley, Dustin Lynch, HARDY, Maddie & Tae and more gave performances and words of encouragement for the Vanderbilt University Medical staff. Additionally, performers asked fans to add their own tunes to the Gratitunes playlist made available at COVID-19 VUMC Assessment Sites as well as the Vanderbilt Hospital.
