Brandon Lay Gets Listeners Pumped for Summer with ‘Yada Yada Yada’

The song came about spontaneously after two writers liked when Lay just used the words, 'yada yada yada,' as makeshift lyrics to the track.

Brandon Lay relies on the makeshift rules of summer he grew up with as a Tennessee boy even now as he preaches the word in “Yada Yada Yada.”

The main requirement of his summer agenda, according to the new single, happens to be the motion of falling in love. Using his “tunnel vision” and skipping all the small talk, Lay lets actions speak louder than words for his charm and lands himself the girl.

How the song came about, though, was just a random coincidence where Lay’s co-writers liked the silliness of “Yada Yada Yada” as a song title. They rolled with the thought, and let the rest unfold in the writing room without any stress.

“’Yada Yada Yada’ is a song I wrote with Mikey Reaves and Heather Morgan.  I had the melody in my head one day as I was driving home from a gig but I didn’t have any lyrics yet, so I was just humming yada yada yada as dummy lyrics (into my phone). A few days later I was in a writing room with the voice memo and Mikey and Heather thought that would make a pretty good title in itself so we went with it.  It’s a fun tune that I hope people will enjoy,” Lay explained about the track in a recent press release.

Lay’s previous single, “Speakers, Bleachers and Preachers,” soared on the country charts and captured the hearts of many fans over the past few months of airplay.

Fans can hear “Yada Yada Yada” live when Lay performs the song during his opening set on Kenny Chesney’s Trip Around the Sun Tour this summer. Dates and information is listed on Lay’s website.
