Brantley Gilbert and Wife Amber Expecting Baby No.2 – And It’s a Girl!
Is it a boy or girl?!
Surprise – Brantley Gilbert and his wife Amber are expecting! The couple shared the exciting news – and the gender reveal – in an interview with PEOPLE on Tuesday (3/26).
In a series of photos, the couple learn that their second child will be a girl. During the special reveal, Brantley and Amber, with their 16-month old son Barrett, pull a string attached to a box hanging overhead. As the flaps to the box open, pink balloons and confetti fall from the sky, revealing that they are, in fact, having a daughter.
“Oh, I cried!” Gilbert shared with PEOPLE. “I was so sure it was a boy. I wasn’t ready for it to be a little girl — and man, when it was! I just wanted a healthy, happy baby, but a little girl means a whole other deal.”
“I know I have so much to learn. You even diaper them differently, so I’m gonna be learning a whole lot of stuff from these books Amber reads — and I can’t wait,” he added. “I am just mush with Barrett. But I’m getting to where I’m okay letting him tough it out. I think a girl is going to be a whole new level of everything, and I’m ready. I already know she’s gonna own me, and that’s okay.”
The couple, who was surrounded by nearly 50 of their closest friends and family, admit that Barrett may have had an inkling that he’d be a big brother to a little sister.

“Earlier in the day, when they came with all the bunches of blue and pink balloons, we offered him a blue one or a pink one and he went for the pink — almost like he knew,” recalled Amber. “I’m not sure he understands, but it’s like he knew she was a little girl.”
Having the chance to be a father again is something the “What Happens In A Small Town” singer is over the moon about.
“There is nothing like it,” he said. “And as great as you think it’s going to be, it doesn’t come close to how it really is. To think it’s happening again is wild.”
