Brantley Gilbert Finds Friend and Mentor In Tim McGraw

Keith Urban's Fourth Annual We're All For The Hall Benefit Concert

During his career, Brantley Gilbert has had the chance to tour with and open for some very talented artists, including Eric Church, Toby Keith, and Tim McGraw. Touring with McGraw last year, however, is an experience the Georgia native won’t soon forget.

“Tim’s an awesome dude, on and off stage,” Gilbert says of the superstar, and points out that like him, Tim has been sober for a while. “He had some great advice as far as that goes.”

He gained other insights from the man as well, including the best ways to handle the business side of the music industry. He also got a taste of the kind of person McGraw was when the spotlight of wasn’t shining on him.

“It’s good to be able to look up to somebody on stage and in business, and then off stage,” Gilbert explains. “I had an opportunity to fly with him to some shows and hearing him call home and talk to Faith and his girls.”

It’s the kind of side a lot of us would love to see, and it appears as though McGraw is everything we would’ve hoped.

“He’s just a good father and a good husband,” Gilbert shares. “And the way he conducts himself on the road with the people that work for him and with him, he’s just a stand up dude.”
