Brantley Gilbert Says Fans Connecting With His Songs Is ‘What It’s All About’

Upbeat party anthems have been really good to Brantley Gilbert throughout the past few years. The Georgia native’s “Country Must Be Country Wide” helped put him on the mainstream map, while “Bottoms Up” was one of the most played songs of 2014.

But it’s fans’ reactions to songs with a little more meat to them, like his new single “One Hell of an Amen,” that makes the whole songwriting process worth it for Gilbert.

“Havin’ people come up to you and our supporters come up to me and say, you know, ‘This song helped me get through Iraq’ or ‘This song motivated me to go get my girl back’ or ‘helped me cope with the loss of a family member or close friend,’ that’s what really makes all this worth it, if you think about it,” Gilbert, 29, says.

He also knows, of course, that music is another form of expression, but these songs are affecting people on a very personal level.

“These songs are actually changin’ people’s lives, and that’s definitely music in a whole for me,” he shares. “That’s what it’s all about.”

The newly engaged singer is taking some time off the road, but “One Hell of an Amen” is currently making its way up the charts.
