Breland has invited Mickey Guyton on a new version of his song, “Cross Country,” officially out now. Set to a background of melodic acoustic guitar along with a hint of twang and pop elements, Breland and Guyton trade vocals about finding one’s place in the world.

“I’m going cross country / I won’t stop running ’til I find where I belong / I’m going cross country / Know they might judge me, I ain’t gotta prove ‘em wrong,” they sing.

The original version of “Cross Country” was released on February 26 and Breland announced the version with Guyton earlier last week.

“SURPRISE!!! This Friday *3/19* I’ve got my sis @mickeyguyton, fresh off a GRAMMY nomination and performance, on a new version of #CrossCountry to share her story with the world,” he wrote on Instagram.

Guyton also shared her excitement to be included on the track, writing, “So honored to sing with you @breland! Our collab “Cross Country” is out now.”

Breland first gained notoriety in country music in 2020 with the release of “My Truck,” which first received attention on social media. The song peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard  Hot Country Songs chart in August 2020, and Breland also released a remixed version with Sam Hunt. Both versions of the song are found on his Breland EP, released in May 2020. He also released a second collection, Rage & Sorrow, in June 2020. The singer/songwriter promises to release even more new music soon.

“I have some music dropping over the next few months that feeeeels like it could be [Grammy] material,” he wrote in a recent tweet. “I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”
