Brett Eldredge on Why He Loves Halloween Costumes All Year Round

Brett Eldredge is well-known for his antics, especially when it comes to dressing up for Halloween. Over the years, the singer has channeled his inner Buddy the Elf and Wolverine for some memorable masquerade moments.

In fact, the Illinois native loves to get into the spirit of the holiday so much, he often tries to perform around the holiday and encourages his band and his fans to join in on the fun.

“I’m a costume guy, so I used to try to make sure we had a show booked around Halloween or on Halloween because me and the whole band could dress up on stage,” Eldredge shared. “I’ve dressed as a caveman on stage, dressed as Lieutenant Dangle from Reno 911!”

But Halloween isn’t the only time of year Eldredge has sported some sort of disguise to hide his true identity.

“At Christmas I’ve gone downtown on Broadway dressed as Disco Santa with my friends, and somehow danced in the middle of the clubs and the honky-tonks while they’re playing my songs. I had my complete face covered and no one figured it out and that’s a lot of fun,” he said with a laugh. “That’s why I love to wear wigs and go in the crowds, ’cause you get to be someone else for a bit and just completely weird people out and they don’t realize at all, which I love.”

His most famous disguise comes in the form of Xander, Eldredge’s alter ego. Xander first made an appearance on Snapchat in 2015 and allowed Eldredge to walk around during his own shows without anyone realizing.

What will Eldredge be for Halloween 2018? Only time will tell.
