Kelly Clarkson and Brett Eldredge kicked off the holiday season with their cheerful duet, “Under The Mistletoe,” released in October. The song combines the vocal powerhouse that is Clarkson and the country-Christmas crooner that is Eldredge to create a jam perfect for the holidays. Eldredge is a seasoned singer of Christmas songs himself, having released his big-band-inspired album Glow in 2016, and he says he was overjoyed to receive the invitation to sing on “Under The Mistletoe” with Clarkson.

“I would have walked to Los Angeles to sing this song if she asked me to,” he shared exclusively with Sounds Like Nashville. “I was so blown away at the opportunity that I knew I had to bring everything I had. She is an incredible singer and even better person. She’s got it all, and so does this song.”

Upon the song’s release, Clarkson shared that the retro feeling on Eldredge’s Christmas album is part of what drew her to include him on the song.

“I love writing new Christmas songs that have a classic, throwback vibe,” she said in a statement. “Brett is such an amazing singer and I was so impressed by his classic sound on his Christmas record, so it was a perfect match for picking a duet partner for ‘Under the Mistletoe.’”

Two years after the release of Glow, Eldredge released a deluxe version of the project with five new tracks. Eldredge alluded to a new batch of Christmas music that may be in the works, and while it’s unclear when that will arrive, he did reveal that any new holiday music will continue the classic style of Glow.

“I will just put it this way, as soon as I can get in the room with a big band, it’s on,” he said.
