Canaan Smith and Wife Welcome Baby Girl, Virginia Rose

Canaan Smith is entering a new phase of life: fatherhood. The singer and his wife Christy welcomed a baby girl named Virginia Rose on Halloween (Oct. 31).

“We’ve never felt love like this. Virginia Rose is our whole world. Feels like life begins now,” Smith told PEOPLE.

In a sweet baby portrait posted to Instagram, Christy shared that her life has been forever changed in just the few weeks she’s spend with her daughter.

“We’ve had one week with this little miracle and I already can’t remember what life was like before her. Virginia Rose is absolutely incredible in every way possible,” she wrote. “The past week has been amazing and overwhelming, but we’re all starting to get the hang of it day by day. God is so good!”

Smith first shared that their daughter was on the way in September, upon the release of his song “Life Ain’t Fair.”

“It’s a really cool twist on those set of words,” Smith told Sounds Like Nashville of the song he wrote with Corey Crowder and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard. “It’s basically saying, ‘If I got what I had coming, if I got what I deserve, I guarantee that I’d have nothing close to good as you for sure. Either finding you was lucky or my mama’s answered prayers. A guy like me, a girl like you, I thank God life ain’t fair.’”

In addition to becoming a dad, Smith recently started a new phase of his musical career, becoming the flagship artist for FGL’s new record label, Round Here Records. He’s released several songs, including “Life Ain’t Fair,” since announcing the news.
