Canaan Smith Hospitalized After Show in Pennsylvania
Canaan Smith is on the road to recovery after battling a serious illness that left him hospitalized following his show in Pennsylvania.
What a way to spend your birthday week – not! Canaan Smith is on the road to recovery after being hospitalized in Pennsylvania from a violent ailment that hit the previous night.
The “Like You That Way” singer posted a series of photos to Instagram about his journey from the show to the hospital after laying everything he had out on stage.

“Where do I start? I missed bus call Tuesday night cause I came down with something fierce…lost all body fluids and felt like a knife was being twisted around in my stomach. Flew out the next morning to try and put on a show for PA,” wrote Smith to Instagram. “Here’s how it turned out…For the record, I will ALWAYS give you everything I’ve got. Thanks for the support, Pennsylvania. And thanks to the fine medics/nurses/doctors at State College for taking care of me. Waking up feeling much better on my birthday ”
Among the photos posted to his page include Canaan being wheeled out on a stretcher and then getting settled into the ambulance for his ride to the hospital. The gallery of images closes with a clearly weary Smith giving a thumbs up.
Smith has since been discharged and is currently gearing up to perform tonight (Aug.24) in Delaware at Bottle & Cork, with a string of shows continuing through the weekend.
