Carly Pearce did not have an easy year, having gone through a divorce, but she says she has learned some valuable lessons through her pain that she will continue to implement in her life as we start a new year.

“I think 2020 for me was the biggest learning lesson of my life,” she shared. “And I think that you have to remember the stillness and remember what you learned, implement what you discovered about yourself, and don’t forget that.  I think it’s so easy for us to kind of just be robots and do day in and day out and not check in with ourselves, and not just kinda make sure we’re okay.”

Career-wise, Pearce has seen a strong year in 2020, earning a No. 1 hit with her Lee Brice duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” The song won the award for Musical Event of the Year at the CMA Awards and was nominated for Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

Although Pearce just released her self-titled, debut album in February, she has been releasing brand new music that is not on the record. In September, she channeled her feelings into her music by releasing the sassy breakup song “Next Girl,” which warns the next victim of a man’s fickle love. She also recently released an emotional tune called “Show Me Around,” which finds her singing to the beloved late producer, busbee, asking him to show her around heaven when she gets there. The singer has also been known to post demos of recently-written songs on her Instagram.
