Carly Pearce aims to begin a new musical chapter with an upcoming EP, announcing the details behind 29. Set to arrive on February 19 and featuring seven tracks, the project is said to find a Platinum certified star re-establishing her artistic vision.

Pearce deleted all of her Instagram posts and replaced them with a single video trailer to announce the project, explaining that it was born from a turbulent time in the singer’s life. Following the death of her producer and mentor, busbee, and then her divorce from Michael Ray after just a few months of marriage, she needed to do some soul searching. And what she found is the basis of 29.

Pearce says she wrote most of the new tracks with hit makers Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, and their new partnership has been a breath of fresh air.

“The best songs come from the moment, from real creative spark – and Josh and Shane bring it out of me,” she explains in a statement on the project. “I was unsure where my music would be without busbee. They both know where my musical heart is, and they understand how to capture exact details for much larger truths. The more specific they write, the more people I think can see themselves in the songs.”

The album’s title seems to reference Pearce’s age last year, when her personal transformation took place, and the project’s track list includes previously released songs like “Show Me Around” (a heartfelt tribute to busbee) and “Next Girl,” Pearce’s romantic warning of a current single.

“I feel lighter reflecting on the last year and pouring my soul into this music and wanted to share it in hopes that others to will take from the songs what they need,” she says. “With streaming and social media, we were able record music for the sole purpose of letting my fans know where my heart is without any expectations. That’s a kind of immediacy that makes making records really exciting. I can’t wait to share 29.

Before 29, Pearce had already scored Platinum-certified hits with the emotional “Every Little Thing” and “I Hope You’re Happy Now” (featuring Lee Brice). Her new single “Next Girl” adds some traditionally-flavored energy to her catalog, and is currently climbing the country-radio charts.
