“It’s no secret that I want my fans to experience this exciting journey alongside me – from awards, tours and even my special relationship with Michael [Ray],” Pearce said in a press release. “As the lyrics say, ‘all I wanna do is get closer to you,’ and that really rings true for me.”
Filmed in Nashville, the clip cuts between shots of Pearce lounging around the house in an emerald velvet gown and speeding down the highway in a studded leather jacket. The Kentucky native’s fiancé Michael Ray also makes a cameo appearance as her lover, whom she unites with at the video’s end.
Featuring her love was an easy decision for Pearce as their relationship played a part in her falling in love with the track after her first listen.
“I immediately saw my life in this song when it played,” she told Sounds Like Nashville of the Hillary Lindsey-penned slow burner. “I just related on so many levels to this feeling. I never intended to make a concept single but I feel it’s the natural progression that is my life. It makes sense.”
Pearce will maintain her speed as she continues her co-headline tour with Russell Dickerson, makes her first appearances at the Country to Country and CMC Rocks music festivals, vies for the iHeartRadio Music Awards’ Best New Country Artist title in March and hits the road with Jason Aldean on his “Ride All Night Tour” in May.
