Carly Pearce was doing radio interviews for the CMA Awards this morning (Nov. 11) when she found out she was a winner. The singer and Lee Brice will take home the award for Musical Event of the Year for their collaboration, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” Pearce shared an emotional video on Instagram of the moment she found out while doing a radio interview.

“Can I tell you guys something? I just found out I won Musical Event of the Year,” she told the station, before starting to cry.

Pearce also shared her excitement in the caption of the video.

“GUYS I WAS SITTING DOING INTERVIEWS AND GOT THE NEWS THAT @leebrice AND I WON ‘MUSICAL EVENT OF THE YEAR,’” she wrote. “This was the moment I found out as I sobbed on the phone in my pjs. Thank you, thank you, thank you. In a year that started as the hardest I’ve ever experienced, YALL are helping me see the big, bright, BEAUTIFUL light at the end of the tunnel.”

Pearce and Brice were set to perform their award-winning song at the CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 11th, but Brice had to bow out due to his COVID-19 diagnosis. However, Lady A’s Charles Kelley will step in to sing the song with Pearce.

The awards show also announced the winner for Music Video of the Year, which was won by Miranda Lambert for her video for “Bluebird.” Lambert will also perform. Other performers include Eric Church, Luke Combs, Maren Morris and more. The awards will air on ABC tonight at 8/7.c
