Carly Pearce sure knows how to celebrate with confidence as she and Lee Brice shined while performing their massive duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” at the 56th Annual ACM Awards on Sunday night (April 18).

Hot off their win for Single of the Year, Pearce and Brice took the stage at the Ryman Auditorium for a passionate rendition of the chart-topping duet. The two bonded in melody and harmony throughout the performance, honing in on the heartbreaking emotions showcased in the vulnerable lyrics as they projected power into the live moment. Adorned by a backdrop of glittering red stars the two played off each other well, showing off their grand voices that reflected the pain and longing of the lyrics in their delivery. The singers beat out Miranda Lambert’s “Bluebird,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” “More Hearts Than Mine” by Ingrid Andress and Maren Morris’ “The Bones,” the latter of which was named Song of the Year, to take home the prize for Single of the Year.

While Pearce has been rising and grinding in the country music industry for years, she calls her musical event with Brice as “the song that changed her whole year” and is so grateful she has gotten to share this experience of success with him.

During a press event promoting their performance at this year’s ACM Awards, Pearce and Brice were surprised with their win in the category for ACM Music Event of the Year. The shocking moment was all caught on camera to the pair’s extreme delight.

“Is this even real life? This song continues to show me that all of my country music dreams are coming true,” Pearce captioned her Instagram post about the exciting occasion.

This makes two ACM wins for Pearce and the fifth trophy for Brice. Pearce also received a nod in the Female Artist of the Year category.
