There’s no denying that “in love glow” radiating from Carly Pearce after she went public about her relationship with fellow country star Michael Ray. The couple has been hot and heavy ever since, with Ray even spending Thanksgiving with the “Closer To You” singer’s family.

But settling into a relationship in the public eye wasn’t an easy decision for Pearce, who leaned on her fellow female singers for advice.

“Before it came out I actually talked to [Kelsea Ballerini] and Maren [Morris] and they were two of the first people that I told, that were in my artist friends circle. And they’ve been great and really encouraged me in the beginning. I was really nervous about just, you take on somebody else’s identity, especially when you guys do the same thing. And I felt like I could go to them,” she explained.

Her situation felt similar to that of Ballerini, who had recently married Morgan Evans, a country singer from Australia.

“I remember when Kelsea was falling in love with Morgan,” she recalled. “I remember that whole process and I felt very much like what I watched with her was happening to me and she was able to kind of look at me and go, ‘Told you that you weren’t in the right thing before. And now you’re understanding where I am.’ And they just really encouraged me to walk towards that and not be afraid of that and to look at them and say, ‘Yeah, we do the same thing, and look how amazing it is for us.’ So they’ve been really awesome.”

Her advice on love isn’t the first time Ballerini reached out a helping hand to Pearce as the women have been fast friends since meeting at a support group for female artists several years ago. While in different places in their careers, the two leaned on each other through the ups and downs and continues to hold each other up.

While Pearce’s love life continues to blossom, her music career is growing just as wildly. The singer will embark on her co-headlining The Way Back Tour with Russell Dickerson in early 2019.
