After a tough 2020, country artists were determined to make the past year a memorable one — and the star won that game was arguably Carly Pearce.

The Kentucky native not only released her autobiographical 29: Written In Stone album, but became a member of the hallowed Grand Ole Opry and shined bright as the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, among other highlights. In a Christmas Eve interview with CBS Mornings, Pearce reflected on what that year has meant to her.

On hand to perform a spirit-stirring rendition of the Christmas classic, “O Holy Night,” Pearce also stuck around to chat with anchors Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson. She spoke of the optimism she has for the future and how she’s come to terms with achieving her life long dreams — and perhaps most important as another year comes to a close, of the family who helped make her career-defining year possible.

“I felt so many people just wrap their arms around me in a time when I thought I might break,” Pearce said. “But especially on Christmas Eve, I’m reminded of my faith and the unwavering support my grandparents had in me. I know they are rejoicing and looking down feeling proud.”

Check out Pearce’s performance and the full interview above, but her big year isn’t over quite yet. She’ll cap things off with an appearance on New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash, airing live December 31 (8-11:00 PM, ET/PT, 11:30 PM-1:30 AM, ET/PT) on CBS and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+

After that, it’s on to the next challenge. Pearce will spend early 2022 on another leg of The 29 Tour — where she headlines her 29: Written In Stone album in its entirety each night — and will then join Kenny Chesney’s 2022 Here And Now Tour of stadiums around the nation.
