Fans have been anxiously awaiting new tunes from Carly Pearce, and she’s giving them a taste of what’s to come.

The “Every Little Thing” singer shared a little snippet of a potential track called “Heart First” on Instagram, and explained that she wrote the song about the difficult battle between the head and the heart.

“‘Head couldn’t of told me no different if it tried / Had that all in tunnel vision, didn’t think it through / Yeah I only saw what I wanted to…,'” Pearce sings in the raw demo clip.

She continues to open up in the vulnerable song, struggling with the intense highs and extreme lows that come with love and logic in a relationship.

“‘Cause when you fall you fall heart first / And when you hit the ground it hurts / Wish there was another way without the crash and burn / That I could learn / But when you fall you fall heart first,'” she coos over the piano-heavy melody.

Pearce confessed she recorded the song all in one take, but her recording studio in that instance just so happened to be a closet due to quarantine from COVID-19. She has been working on new music throughout the year, letting fans in on the process through her social media pages.

It’s about to be a big month coming up for Pearce, as she earned four nominations for the 54th Annual CMA Awards. The singer landed nods for New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year. She is also being recognized as a double nominee at the 2020 CMT Music Awards with nominations in the Quarantine Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year categories.

Pearce’s latest single, “Next Girl,” is available to stream now.
