Carnival Live: Lady Antebellum Recap

What a whirlwind week we had! On Sunday (11/16), we set sail aboard Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Breeze for a 6-day Caribbean adventure, featuring a Lady Antebellum show in Cozumel.

Our first stop was in sunny Key West, FL. We started off the day at Key West’s First Legal Rum Distillery, Chef Distilled. The owner, Paul Menta, took us through the process of making his hangover-free rum, followed by a taste of the product. All of Chef Distilled’s processes are done in house, ranging from the production of the rum to the hand-labeling of the bottles, making it one of the best libations you could try.

For the rest of the day, we were able to explore different sights throughout the island, thanks to the Key West Attractions Association. With sights such as Hemingway Home, the Key West Aquarium and many more, there’s no way for one to be bored.

Our second day of the Carnival Live sailing was spent at sea. Thankfully, Carnival provides great activities to keep passengers busy and having a great time. On a ship like the Breeze, one of the newest in Carnival’s fleet, you can find an activity for just about anyone. The Punchliner Comedy Club Presented by George Lopez, 320-foot-long Twister Waterslide, Camp Carnival, Hasbro, The Game Show and even the Hairy Chest Competition are just a few of the things you can take part in during your Fun Sea Day.

On Wednesday (11/19), we spent the day in Grand Cayman. Rather than booking an excursion, we took a taxi straight to 7-mile beach. With one of the most breathtaking beaches we’ve ever seen, many of the ship’s guests spent time tanning, drinking and enjoying their time together. If you’re interested in any of the awesome excursions Carnival offers at this port, including the popular Stingray City, click HERE.

On Thursday, we anxiously awaited the Lady Antebellum concert. To soothe our excitement, we were treated to the day in Chankanaab National Park in Cozumel. The resort area was full of great activities for young and old, including swimming with dolphins, sea lion shows, tequila tastings, snorkeling, or just laying out in a hammock. Our tour guide, Rafael, took us on a swim over the reefs surrounding the beach, pointing out old cannons, stingrays and parrotfish.

After a relaxing day, we readied ourselves for a night full of live music. Lady A sang a set full of their fan’s favorites, like “Bartender,” “Love Don’t Live Here,” and “Our Kind of Love.” When Charles Kelley declared the show one of their last of the year, the crowd was unpleased, but Kelley assured them it was a good thing, leading the band from their set list and going rouge. Some of the highlights from the show included Hillary Scott pulling two girls onstage to help sing “American Honey,” Kelley pulling another onstage later on to be their hype girl and Dave Haywood’s jam sessions with the band.

One of the great things about Carnival Live is getting to see some of your favorite acts in a small venue. It allows the fans to get up-close to their favorite acts in a more intimate, theater-like setting. Lady Antebellum gave an explosive and powerful performance that showcased what makes them great.

If you’re interested in joining Carnival for their 2015 Carnival Live series, be sure to check out their incredible lineup for the first half of the year. The lineup will include Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, as well as Journey, Smokey Robinson, and Styx, back by popular demand for the second season. When booking your cruise, you have the opportunity to purchase concert tickets, including the option to upgrade to VIP tickets, which include meet and greets or a seat in the one of the front rows.
