Caroline Jones makes looking polished seem easy. Her beautiful, fresh-faced aesthetic pairs well with the beach-inspired beats on her EP, Chasin’ Me. Years of being on tour and in front of the camera, has shown the singer how to best highlight her athletic, petite frame.

We caught up with the artist to gab about style and beauty.

The best beauty advice she’s ever received: I know everyone says it, but to drink a lot of water and to eat well and sleep. That really is the best beauty advice. I like to be natural, so I think less is more. That’s kind of my philosophy. If you’re healthy and happy, it comes from the inside out and you don’t need to do too much to yourself.

Three products she can’t live without: My favorite one is this thing called the FaceHalo. It’s a soft, round washcloth that takes off all your makeup with no products—like no makeup remover, no cleanser, nothing. It’s incredible. I also love these perfumes by a company called Heretic. I tried to find a natural perfume for a long time that actually smells really good and stays on and feels luxurious and this is the best one. And then, of all my beauty products, I love the Josie Maran stuff. I think she does a great line of natural makeup. I love that. I have really sensitive skin, so it’s important to me to have natural products.

How she preps for the red carpet: I kind of do everything I normally do. I don’t do anything that different. I always make sure to work out and sleep well and hydrate and then, for a red carpet, obviously spend a little more time on hair and makeup. But again, I like to be pretty natural. I’m not crazy about looking totally different than I look in my everyday life.

The best and worst fashion trends she’s experienced: I think hats are the best and worst. I’ve worn some questionable hats. When hats are good, they’re really, really good, but when they’re bad, they’re really, really bad. For the best fashion trend, I’d say something classic. I like pretty natural and classic with a little bit of a boho or rocker flair. You always know when you’ve done it right. You feel good going out of the house, you feel good in your skin—that’s the best feeling.

How she describes her personal style: It definitely has elements of bohemian. Something that’s a little bit challenging with bohemian though is, when you’re petite like I am, you can get lost in bohemian style. So I like to pair bohemian pieces with very tight jeans or a very tight tank top because I like to have shape. I love to feel comfortable when I’m at home. I basically only wear sweatpants and wraps and sweaters and sweatshirts. That’s what I would wear if I were left to my own devices. But I’ve chosen a job where I’m on stage a lot, I’m photographed a lot, I’m on video a lot. You learn what looks good on camera, especially from far away.

Her style icons: Stevie Nicks is a big one. Linda Ronstadt in the ’70s. I always love to see what Blake Lively is wearing. I think she’s so classy, but she also takes chances. And then Faith Hill—I would say those are my big ones.

Jones just wrapped a stint opening for Trisha Yearwood on tour and recently made her Grand Ole Opry debut. Fans can learn more about Caroline Jones on her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels. Her tour schedule is available HERE.
