Carrie Underwood Counts Down to ‘Sunday Night Football’ Kickoff
Check out a preview of her new theme song.
Country superstar Carrie Underwood is counting down the kickoff of this year’s NFL season — and to her Sunday Night Football theme song.
Back for the ninth straight season, Underwood will once again sing the opening number to NBC’s massively popular primetime Sunday game, and the teasers have already begun.
On Sunday (August 29), the hit maker reposted a clip from the Sunday Night Football account, showing a bit of her role in the new theme. Her soaring vocals are in full effect, of course, as she belts out the tagline “Waitin’ all day for Sunday night!” And meanwhile, slow motion footage of stars like Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson builds the suspense.
According to Underwood, she’s already looking ahead to September 12 when the Chicago Bears take on the Los Angeles Rams.
“We can’t WAIT for #SNF. How ‘bout you, @CarrieUnderwood?” Sunday Night Football wrote.
“Been waitin’ all year for you to ask me that!,” the star shot back.
Just last week Carrie Underwood and NBC shared a few details about this year’s SNF opening theme, which will feature the country starlet’s “Waitin’ All Day for Sunday Night” rendition — and some cutting edge TV production tech. With a different look each week, the action-packed clips were filmed using the same LED sound stage that helped create Disney’s The Mandalorian, and will celebrate fans with a “virtual tailgate.” NBC’s Sunday Night Football has been primetime television’s Number One program for an 10 consecutive years, and this year’s schedule looks ready to keep the big ratings going.
“Shooting the new show open for Sunday Night Football is one of the highlights of my year,” said Underwood. “I just love the fact that we get to reinvent it every year. The team behind these shoots is incredible and it’s always a really fun day, especially this year getting to work with such amazing state-of-the-art technology.”
