Carrie Underwood fans are about to ‘Cry Pretty’ once they hear the powerful message behind the singer’s latest single to hit country radio.

After taking a brief time away from the spotlight, Underwood is back in full force with unstoppable vocals commanding throughout the meaningful lyrics of “Cry Pretty.” Bringing the idea of vulnerability to the light in a bittersweet delivery, Underwood makes listeners understand that not being fine is just another part of life and hiding away from tears remains impossible during certain situations.

Nevertheless, the singer encourages the concept of getting back up again after heartbreak and loss no matter how much strength is needed within someone’s soul.

“The title refers to when emotions take over and you just can’t hold them back. It really speaks to a lot of things that have happened in the past year and I hope when you hear it, you can relate those feelings to those times in your life. It’s emotional. It’s real. And it ROCKS,” Underwood recently wrote to her fans in a letter.

Underwood contributed words to the creation of “Cry Pretty,” alongside hit songwriters Liz Rose, Hillary Lindsey and Lori McKenna. Delivering a poignant message such as the one sprinkled throughout the lyrics, Underwood can definitely relate after privately recovering from a tough fall from last year and figuring out what was next for her after the smash success of past singles, “Dirty Laundry,” and “Church Bells.”

Underwood will bring “Cry Pretty” to the 53rd Annual ACM Awards stage when she performs the track live for the first time during the broadcast on Sunday evening. Underwood is also nominated in the Female Vocalist of the Year category against some worthy competition including Miranda Lambert, Reba, Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini.
