Carrie Underwood made a striking impression with a performance of her new single “Drinking Along” at the 2019 CMA Awards.

After a warm introduction by her co-hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, Underwood completely owned the stage that was decked out as a swanky bar with the sassy new song. The superstar was clearly in her element, strutting down a staircase in an all black glittering number, the smooth sound of a saxophone guiding her along. Underwood brought a jazz-infused flair to the country awards show, along with a fierce attitude and killer vocals.

“We should be drinkin’ alone together / Drownin’ the pain is better / With somebody else who got problems / We ain’t gonna solve ‘em / The misery loves company,” she belted, hitting all the right notes that earned her a standing ovation from her peers in the crowd. “You killed it girl, that was spectacular,” Parton praised when the three united on stage.

Underwood is nominated for three of the night’s top awards: Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Cry Pretty and the coveted Entertainer of the Year.
