Carrie Underwood and Gabby Barrett each took home two awards from Sunday’s (November 21) 2021 American Music Awards, leading a night which also featured an extra-fancy performance from Walker Hayes, and more.

Winning both Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Inspirational Artist, Underwood’s wins marked her 16th and 17th AMA trophies overall. The superstar also took the stage with Jason Aldean on their chart-topping duet, “If I Didn’t Love You,” performing on the banks of Nashville’s Cumberland River with the gorgeous city skyline in the distance.

Meanwhile, Barrett’s wins in the Favorite Country Album (Goldmine) and Favorite Country Song (“The Good Ones”) left her speechless, writing on social media “I can’t believe it!!!! … What an incredible honor. Thank you thank you thank you. I have the best fans in the world!”

Other country winners on the night included Luke Bryan (Favorite Male Country Artist) and Dan + Shay (Favorite Country Duo or Group), and elsewhere, the star-studded celebration of all musical styles included stand-out country performances.

Playing off his first country radio Number One, Hayes delivered a fun-and-funky rendition of his “Fancy Like” smash — complete with backup dancers and an appearance by his wife, Laney, who is also the song’s casual-cool inspiration. Likewise, Kane Brown gave fans a glimpse of his upbringing in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before kicking off “One Mississippi” from a packed gymnasium at Nashville’s Tennessee State University.
