Carrie Underwood ‘Happier’ After Becoming a Mom

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has a whole new outlook on life since welcoming her sweet baby boy Isaiah seven months ago. The first time mom is loving motherhood and is surprised at how well she’s taken to her new job.

“I feel overall like I’m kind of a happier person, and that’s kind of weird,” Underwood told ABC News. “I don’t know why, but I just feel like I’m just kind of in a better mood most of the time, unless I’m really sleepy.”

Underwood’s source of happiness could also be due to Isaiah’s sunny disposition. “He’s such a great baby. … Smiley and happy and just sweet. I’m sure all babies are sweet, but he’s, like, really sweet,” she said.

Isaiah, who is Underwood’s first baby with her husband Mike Fisher, is also loving his mom’s musical talents. “I came home the other night and he was asleep and Mike was actually trying to keep him awake for a little longer so he wouldn’t just take a nap and then go to bed an hour later — because that just wouldn’t happen — he wouldn’t go down for the night!” Underwood told CMT.

“So I came in and I was just kind of humming around in the kitchen making dinner and he immediately popped up and was like, ‘Mom’s home! That’s her voice! I know it! She’s singing!’ So yeah, he loves music.”

Fans got a glimpse of Isaiah’s musical prowess when the Oklahoma native shared an adorable picture of him sitting at a piano over the summer. We have no doubt that we’ll see Isaiah in the studio soon enough!
