Carrie Underwood Makes Surprise Performance at New Kids on the Block Concert

We know Carrie Underwood is a Nashville Predators fan and a lover of country music, but her inner 80s fangirl came out loud and proud at the New Kids on the Block show in Nashville on Wednesday night.

Transporting back to the age of puffed-up pompadours and Hammer pants, Underwood and the crowd enjoyed a night filled with the smooth melodies of Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Jordan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. Little did fans of NKOTB know they were in for ‘The Right Stuff’ as Underwood surprised the crowd by appearing on stage mid-concert to serenade two members of the boy band for their birthdays.

New Kids on the Block returned the favor to a giddy Underwood, who grooved along with their R&B rendition of the classic tune. While the country singer was a pre-teen during NKOTB’s height of success, it looked as her passion for the pop group hasn’t died as she danced ‘Step by Step’ to each tune.

Documenting her night to remember through her Instagram, Underwood admittedly geeked out throughout the show and reminisced on her childhood days thanks to the band’s epic performance.

And I’m instantly back in 6th grade…right @jordanvandiver ? Ha ha!

“And I’m instantly back in 6th grade…right @jordanvandiver ? Ha ha,” she captioned one of her many Instagram posts from the night.

The “Church Bells” singer even caught up with former American Idol judge and pop legend Paula Abdul backstage during the show. Underwood seemed thrilled to see her past mentor “do her thing” on stage as a part of the throwback tour.

Underwood is currently taking a break from her time on the road and making music to be a full-time mom to little Isaiah and rooting for her favorite hockey captain, Mike Fisher.
